The Tucson Saddle Club is a non-profit organization of over 200 horsemen dedicated to equine legislation, good horsemanship, acquisition and preservation of trails, and to sponsor such activities that will enhance the use of horses. We have been in existence since the early 1970’s and have ridden all over the state of Arizona, but mostly within 100 miles of Tucson. We meet once a month with the exception of June, July and August, and try to provide an interesting speaker at each meeting. We also produce a monthly newsletter and sponsor several rides each month of varying degrees of difficulty. We put on the Tierra Bella, an organized 5-day trail ride in October open to the public for a fee. Our rides are very diverse in location, terrain, and can range from easy for the beginner to challenging for the more experienced. We have ridden on the desert floor of the Avra Valley and in the pines of the Santa Rita and Catalina mountains and in the many and varied terrains in between. Many of our members are constantly trying to improve their horsemanship by participating in clinics, taking lessons, and just observing and sharing knowledge. We are stewards of a portion of the Arizona Trail and many members have participated in work parties to improve the trails.
