This is an easy ride in and out of the Aqua Caliente wash. We go under two major bridges at Tanque Verde and at Houghton Roads – and make our make our way to the bird sanctuary. This is a popular area for dog walkers so dogs will be encountered. We will stay out of the wash as much as possible. The general pace of the ride will be a gentle walk however there are areas in the bird sanctuary where those with gated horses can try another gear if they wish.

Directions: Head north on Houghton Road from its intersection with Tanque Verde Road. At the traffic lights keep heading north on Houghton. At about ½ mile turn right (east) on E. Glenn St. Go all the way to the end to N. Avenida Del Conejo. We will park on the east side of N. Avenida De Conejo. We will enter the wash on the right. This is a subdivision so please be mindful of house driveways.  Please RSVP 520 990 2317.

The ride down to  Sycamore canyon is very steep with  loose rocks and some washed out areas on the trail.  Hopefully, there will be water in the reservoir for the horses to drink.  Their will be water crossing (if there is water) so your horse should cross water. The trail does have some washed out areas. We will take Bear Canyon trail to the back side of Thimble Rock.  The trail is narrow and has some drop offs. The views are spectacular so look all around as you are riding at all the beauty.  Bring your lunch or snack and we will eat below Thimble Rock.  Coming back up out of the canyon is very steep so your horses should be in good condition,

Directions:  Take Catalina Hwy. to Prison camp and make a left  turn.  The equestrian trail is all the way to the end.
